HOW TO PRACTICE GRATITUDE DAILY WITH THIS TOP 10 LIST

How we can easily start practicing  gratitude Daily

“Oh Kelly your hair looks great today” “OH really you think so, Thank you girl, I appreciate it”.  I feel like I am on the top of the WORLD! We love compliments, they make us feel good and the person who gave it to you feels good! Thank youThen two seconds later you turn the freakin corner AND Sam says ”why did you wear your hair like that, it looked better yesterday” ….AND I’m crushed. (LIKE WTF is that about) Why can’t we hold on to the complaint and forget the negative comments or insults?WHY, WHY do we let and keep the negative in and forget the compliments so quickly? Well, science says - That you can BLAME your brain -  The science says that the brain has a negativity bias, which means, (from psychologist Dr.Hanson Ph.D)  “the brain is like Velcro for negative experiences but Teflon for positive ones.” Because of this bias, you need to intentionally create a high ratio of positive events to negative events. WOW, this explains a lot right.GOOD NEWS!! WE CAN CHANGE THIS by creating new HABITS of GratitudeThe amazing power of practicing GRATITUDE. START NOW, THIS SHIT WORKS!The benefits of gratitude are endless and free! Most of us do say thank you daily usually for someone opening a door for you, handing you your morning coffee, getting change back at the shop, maybe the kids picked up their toys but why not start expanding your gratitude practice and not just scratch the surface. Here are great examples most of us can relate to daily –

Our Morning Coffee!

Have you ever taken a minute and thought about how you get your coffee? It didn’t magically appear for you from the coffee gods or a magic spell. Take a few minutes RIGHT NOW and think how many people contributed to the coffee you drink every day? The coffee workers, bean farmers, distributors, truck drivers, coffee shop owners, baristas, and what about the cup you are drinking from? or the cream, sugar you put in it AND the many others played roles in getting a delicious cup of coffee in your handsIt’s pretty amazing all those people doing something to help us have a better day. How often do you take a minute to think about this? Maybe you can start right now. Take just a minute :)The more we can take a few minutes and build the habit of gratitude you will soon see the boost in your mindset, emotional and physical well-being.

HERE ARE THE TOP 10 EASY AND SIMPLE WAYS TO START CREATING A DAILY GRATITUDE PRACTICE and  KEEPING IT!

1. START WITH AN ALARM ON YOUR PHONE

Use your phone for good and remind yourself every morning to be thankful.Wake with gratitude is a huge win for the day. Why not wake up and be thankful for you life, for your eye, legs, arms, breathe, bed, room, pillows, ..you see where I am going here. I find starting in the morning really can help rewire your mindset. If you need a bigger reminder, check out our Gratitude Phone cases so it will remind you every time you look at it. Small moments add up.

2. USE POST IT NOTES - EVERYWHERE (put those notes by your bed, coffee maker, bathroom mirror, laptop…

You can pick the places, but pick places you have to see every day to help remind you to take that minute to be thankful.

3. REMEMBER WHEN YOU ARE IN THE SHOWER

Have you thought about who built the tub or shower you are in or the curtain or door, showerhead? How you get the water and how it goes through the pipes and how they got there? Don’t get me started on the soap, shampoo, body creams, and body butters, ohhh those amazing smells and feels. Let your mind expand to thank everyone who contributed to your daily shower routine, OH WAIT, one more - maybe you are lucky enough to get to share your shower with another (insert winky face), you better be grateful for that. Just incase our shower curtain to remind you.

4. START FROM YOUR FEET TO YOUR HAIR

I like to do this twice a day (but start with one time it will be easier)The first time, when I wake up as I stand up out of my bed in the morning and then again at bedtime as I lay down. I say “ thank you for my feet which allow me to hike outside, and pick a body part as I go up to my head, I am grateful for my sight which allows me to see family, friends, the sky, and ocean. You ee you can pick one or many - it’s actually endless with this list of our amazing bodies. Focus on one at a time..”

5. TAKE 1 MINUTE BEFORE MEALS

Take a moment of mindfulness before eating your food. A simple thank you for this food or you can think more into it, for example, a  thank everyone involved in making the food from the farmer to the preparer to the animal (if there was).

6. SEND A QUICK TEXT MESSAGE

A simple “thank you for being my friend or thank you for the post you made” text or message can go a long way. You feel good and spreading it to the person you are thanking feels so good for them too. They might even tell someone else… see its contagious this gratitude thing.

7. KEEP A GRATITUDE JOURNAL!

gratitude daily and practice

Begin a daily gratitude POWER OF THIS IS LIMITLESS AND EMPOWERING. Turning a feeling or thought into words on a page and action will make it not only a mental shift but a physical one as well. (Don’t believe me yet - TRY IT)Find where this fits in your day the easiest so you can create the habit better and keep it. I find that a lot of people like to write each night before bed or as they just get into bed for reflection time, writing down 2 to 4 things from their day. This way you can relive and feel these when you are having a bad day. Get your gratitude prompts here. Does the journal feel overwhelming? Well start here with this Free 7 Day Challenge that you can print off as use a tool to remind to keep you going.

Make a point to thank each store cashier, bank teller, and grocery cashier for helping you get through your errands. Your gratitude will no doubt enhance their days as well. THEY will feel better too!!

9. TAKE A WALKTry practicing gratitude for what you notice. The sounds of the city, or the birds, the clean air, the big sky, those fluffy clouds, green trees, the warm sun, and the rest of your surroundings.

10. CUDDLE YOUR PETHave you have ever taken the time to consider how much laughter,  love, and happiness your pet gives you? This amazing animal gives you LOVE always. Leave the house for 5 minutes or 5 days and they are so excited to see you. They have a bond with you that is like no other. Give them lots of cuddles and be grateful for all the time you get with them.
